This is a second entry I am posting regarding my TMJ problem. I'm a 28 year old female who had braces at 17yrs old with 4 premolar extraction. Since then I always suffered from retruded upper/lower jaw and was never able to close my mouth properly. Now I have about 4 mm overbite. I had a consultation with an orthodontist today, and was told that my tmj is almost resorbed due to the jaw retrusion- it's too compressed. I am not a candidate for orthognatic surgery and I do not wish to have any surgeries. So I guess my only option is orthodontic treatment. The orthodontist showed me some appliance that looked similar to Twin Block appliance. He told me that it takes about 3-4 yrs to fix my bite. He also recommended getting dental implants later on. It'll be nice if everything he suggested is possible. But I need a second opinion. I'd be glad to visit any dentist who has a better suggestion and experience in my case.
