When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

If your dentition isn''''t too badly broken down a general dentist could treat your problem (although many may be a bit afraid of it). If you have dissolved your teeth to the point that your bite has collapsed you might need to be in the hands of a prosthodontist or a general dentist with advanced training.

Most general dentists will be aware of the complications of bulimia and will make you aware of them. The problem with an ongoing case of bulimia is that the tooth structure that surrounds any restoration that is placed in your mouth will tend to dissolve away and lead to the failure of the restoration. I don''''t want to frighten you since your case might not be too severe.

I would love to take a look at your mouth and discuss your options.

Bulimia effects the dentition by making them weaker due to constant exposure to the somach acid. This lead to a quick down hill pattern of problems. This starts by teeth being sesitive when errosion has pentrated the tooth to the sever case where there is no more tooth left.

I hope that you address this with inerperson yourself because that is where this needs to be treated firts then the symptoms which is your teeth.

If you are willing to take responsiblity and do your part at home then I can help you fix your mouth and KEEP IT HEALTHY.

Stomach acidity in Bulimic patients causes erosion of your teeth, and must be dealt with by an experienced Doctor that has knowledge about the erosion process, and how to restore your teeth properly. Are you being treated for Bulimia now? Please call me and I would like to discuss a few important things to you. 805-777-7447

A general dentist like myself is very qualified to treat this condition. Sensitive teeth caused from Bulemia is usuall the result of lost or thining enamel on the palate side of your upper teeth where the stomach acids hit as they are expelled.. Full crowns covering the entire surface are usually indicated for the front 6 teeth. Not much else works for this condition. Veneers dont work because they are on the outer part of the tooth. Of done many cases like this in men and women with great results. Dr Thomas

You can go to a general practicioner and your teeth can be addressed then. Typically, crowns are needed to cover the eroded enamel on the "back" of your teeth. In some cases, one might even need root canal treatments if the erosion has already reached the nerve. A dentist who has been practicing for a while can recognize and treat teeth affected by bulimia.

Bulimia is a very private matter and should be addressed ,when you feel ready. Your teeth are not the only parts in your body getting affected by the acid. There are a whole lot of other complications that can be caused by it. Treating your teeth can be very expensive, so you need to treat the core of the problem in order for things not to get out of control.

Good luck
