Case Description
I am an 29/f who has a molar that has a 10-year old filling on it. The molar broke on the side of it so I was told I need a crown. However, I had 2 molar crowns last year that do not fit properly because of my crossbite. I had to go back to the dentist and fix the problems several. I am looking for a dentist who specializes in crowns that will fit properly when I bite.

Thank you.

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

A crossbite make things a little more difficult but I''''m sure that I could make a new crown that is a perfect fit.

Dear Patient in Torrance. The issue with the crown seems straight forword..The cross bite however needs to be addressed when the crown is made by a laboratory. If they (lab)place it on an articulated Jaw during processing they will make the crown to fit into your cross-bite. The Dentist needs to provide the lab with the proper bite and impressions tho...Good luck. Dr Thomas

A crossbite shouldn''''t affect the way the crown fits in your mouth. We use excellent labs that shouldn''''t have any problem fitting your crown into your existing crossbite. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Sounds like you are looking for a prosthodontist. You can look one up at your area on google. It will cost you more, though. In my experience, any good general dentist can deliver a good crown, so it may have been a combination of your crossbite and perhaps someone not experienced.

Good luck
